Job DescripionWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Licence Eligible Archaeologists to join our dynamic team. This position may involve working on field projects including monitoring, testing and excavation as well as follow up post-excavation and reporting work. The role is to oversee all aspects of assigned sites/projects. This includes ensuring best archaeological practice in fieldwork and post-excavation; assessing the logistical requirements of the site/project and ensuring that they are met and assessing the personnel requirements of the site/project and ensuring that they are met. The suitable candidate will be willing to manage a team and ensure the smooth running of the site. The successful candidate would have a willingness to travel when required.
Summary of essential job functions▪Fieldwork (including, but not limited to)
▪Ensuring adequate on-site staffing levels and liaising with the People and Culture Manager to that end
▪Staff inductions and orientation
▪Ensuring that all Health & Safety and Waste Management policies are implemented and adhered to, and liaising with the Logistics Department to that end
▪Submitting staff timesheets, leave request forms, illness certificates to HR Department
▪Ensuring that the site/project has adequate equipment, tools, resources etc
▪Ensuring that best archaeological practice is always followed, within the terms of Rubicon’s excavation manual
▪Devising and implementing strategies to ensure the excavation of sites to the above standards whilst remaining within budget and on schedule, and amending those strategies if required
▪Working to ensure all sites/projects are completed within budget and on schedule
▪Ensuring that all site staff are performing tasks appropriate to their grade
▪Ensuring that all site staff are performing tasks to the best of their ability
▪Ensuring that adequate records are kept of Health & Safety and disciplinary issues
▪Post-excavation (including, but not limited to)
▪Production and delivery of preliminary and final reports to the required standards of Rubicon, and to the satisfaction of the client
▪Ensuring the timely and efficient completion of post-excavation tasks as assigned to subordinates
▪Ensuring the timely and efficient completion of post-excavation tasks as assigned to themselves
▪Ensuring the fulfilment of post-excavation milestones and deadlines
▪Ensuring that all parties involved in the report production process are kept adequately informed of the requirements of the Site Manager regarding the delivery of reports
▪Disseminating the results of excavations through publication and presentation
▪General Administration (including, but not limited to)
▪Undertaking Annual and Mid-year Reviews of team members
▪Manage the training and performance of the team
▪Responsible for compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensuring that all tasks assigned to other staff are also compliant
Minimum Requirements▪Eligible to hold an archaeological excavation licence in Ireland
▪Excellent knowledge on excavation and post-excavation procedures and techniques
▪Experience of excavating independently on a variety of site-types
▪Experience of producing high quality reports and good ability to work independently in this regard
▪Full Category B driving license

Salary: €51,000- €55,000 (depending on experience) Plus added bonuses that can amount to €10k extra a year
