Job DescripionWe are a dynamic and reputable archaeological organization dedicated to exploring and preserving the rich cultural history of our world. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Archaeological Site Assistant to join our field team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about archaeology and eager to gain hands-on experience in excavation, site documentation, and field research. The role will focus on excavating and recording archaeological features on site and some post – excavation duties. If you are newly graduated or have a few years’ experience, we would like to hear from you.
Summary of essential job functions▪Assist in the training of excavation and recording techniques to fellow Site Assistants new to the site/position
▪Adherence to disciplinary codes of conduct and taking direction from the Site Supervisor on such matters
▪Adherence to all Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety and Waste Management policies and taking direction from supervisory staff on such matters
▪Ensuring that they have adequate equipment, tools, and resources in order to complete the task/duty assigned to them
▪Ensuring that best archaeological practice is always followed, within the terms of Rubicon’s excavation manual
▪Implementing the instructions of the Site Supervisor/Site Manager regarding excavation strategies to ensure completion of the site/project on schedule and within budget
▪Carrying out the tasks assigned to them in a timely and efficient manner
▪Working to ensure that their section of the site/project is completed on schedule
▪Ensuring that any site staff under their supervision are performing tasks to the highest possible standard
▪Ensuring that their section of the Site Archive is complete and maintained to the highest possible standards and to the satisfaction of the Site Supervisor/Site Manager
▪Undertaking archaeological monitoring of construction/demolition works as required
▪Cataloguing and assessing the Site Archive
▪Data entry of the Site Archive
▪The timely and efficient completion of post-excavation tasks as assigned by the Site Supervisor and/or Post-excavation Supervisor
▪The fulfilment of post-excavation milestones and deadlines as defined by the Site Supervisor and/or Post-excavation Supervisor
▪Processing and cataloguing of environmental and/or artefactual material
▪Maintenance of processing equipment and surrounding environment
Minimum Requirements▪Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential
▪Knowledge of excavation and post-excavation procedure
▪Knowledge of recording techniques
▪Experience on commercial excavations is ideal but not necessary
▪Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
▪Adequate relevant training and experience
▪Full clean driving licence is preferred but not required
Abilities Required▪A degree or ongoing study in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field is preferred, but not essential
▪Previous experience in archaeological fieldwork is desirable but not required
▪Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
▪Ability to work in a team and independently
▪Readiness to work in varying weather conditions

Salary: €31,200 – €37,400 (Depending experience)
