Project Manager​

Position Available: Project Manager 
Contract: Permanent Contract 
Location: Scotland  

Rate of Pay:  £36,966 – £39,000 (dependent on experience)

Job Description: 
Red River Archaeology Group are currently recruiting for a flexible, driven and innovative Project Manager to join the team. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a range of projects and to assist with continued business development. The role will involve managing archaeological projects from birth to grave, including (but not limited to) compiling or contributing to tenders, liaising with clients, managing budgets, allocating and managing resources, reporting to senior managers, ensuring quality and compliance in all elements of a project and quality assurance in reporting and publication.   
We are seeking candidates who can showcase a diverse skill set, including proficiency in the excavation and post-excavation processes. An in-depth understanding of Scottish archaeology, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, is essential. Experience in project management is also beneficial, but training and mentorship can be provided in this regard if a candidate can demonstrate an interest/ aptitude for this type of work.  
Responsibilities
  • Successfully manage projects (or elements of projects, such as an excavation)  
  • Candidates should be willing to navigate commercial archaeology practices and effectively liaise with clients.  
  • Prior knowledge of health and safety protocols specific to archaeology is preferred.  
  • The candidate should also be proficient in utilizing a range of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.  
  • Demonstrate a track record in producing high-quality consultancy documents/ reports and a publication record would be beneficial.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with strong organizational abilities.  
  • The ability to multitask effectively, manage time efficiently, and mediate/facilitate discussions is highly valued.  
  • Work independently and take initiative when necessary. 
  • Flexibility as regards travel and site/ meeting attendance is essential, but it is expected that a significant element of this job will be desk-based.  
  • The ability to build and grow the team and manage large projects   
Skills and Qualifications 
  • An in-depth understanding of Scottish archaeology, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks is essential.  
  • Track record in the autonomous completion of archaeological reports and/or publications is essential and examples will be requested.    
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written is essential.  
  • A full clean driving licence is essential. 

Hours and location: 
The standard hours will be 37.5 hours per week, based on a 7.5 hour working day, Monday to Friday.
