Rubicon Welcome Louis Stafford as Project Officer

We are delighted to announce that Louis Stafford has joined our management team as a Project Officer. Louis brings with him more than a decade of experience in commercial archaeology, and will play an important role in managing archaeological works for our expanding client base.

During his career Louis has worked throughout Wales and England, initially honing his skills as an archaeological surveyor on landscape surveys and standing building records at a number of highly notable sites, such as Margam Country Park and the ancestral homes of the Lords of Harlech at Oswestry. Neither is Louis a stranger to research-led projects, having worked on the North-East Regional Research Framework, the North-East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment and the Durham Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund to name a few. His public outreach expertise includes work on both training excavations and also with experimental archaeology, assisting volunteers in the construction of an Anglo-Saxon long house at Maelmin Heritage Centre in Northumberland.

​Louis’s extensive excavation experience includes work at important locations such as the Gwent Levels, the Blaenavon Ironworks World Heritage Site and Caerleon Roman Fortress. Most recently he was part of the team working on one of the most significant Bronze Age cremation cemeteries yet uncovered in Britain at St. Athan, Wales. From there he joined Rubicon on our major East Anglia One Project, where he has helped us to uncover a range of major prehistoric and medieval sites, and proved a capable, reliable and skilled archaeologist. Rubicon are extremely pleased to be supporting Louis in the next stage of his career progression, and in welcoming him into our management structure.
